1994 Cannondale Super V 3000:

The Super V was one of the more popular early suspension bikes.  It worked reasonable well for the time and had a good "look" to it.  By this time, Cannondale was tapping into existing suppliers to make components that were Cannondale specific.  They hooked up with Magic Motorcycle for the cranks, Hugi for the rear hubs, Dia Compe for the brakes and used their in-house Headshok suspension fork.  When most of the suspension forks were extremely whippy, the Headshok blades were noticeably more rigid which was a nice selling feature and easy to demonstrate.  The Cannondale designed Force 40 cable routing was an attempt to increase the force of the brakes (40% more "force") while solving the routing problems that popped up with the full suspension bikes.  It commonly became known as "Farce 40" and took some effort to set up properly.  Once set up, it provided great stopping power but had a very soft feel.  The design was made obsolete by the coming of the linear pull brakes.
