Each frame can be fully customized for your needs but we have designed the following as the stock F-K-R (Fat-tired Klunker Replica)  frame.  The cost of the standard F-K-R frame will be $1,599 and will be constructed with the following features: (details are still being worked out on this model and are subject to change)

 

 

Tubing: Built to honor the first Klunkers, both the seat stays and chain stays will be curved to match the curved top tube.  The down tube will be straight since all the Klunker riders new the earlier straight down tube Excelsiors were the best!  The  mid tube, between to top tube and down tube, will give that final classic touch.  We will end up with a combination of 4130 cro-moly with a Reynolds seat tube and True Temper stays. 
 

 

Phil Wood eccentric bottom bracket:  The eccentric bottom bracket allows you to tension the chain while using vertical drop outs.  If you decide to add gears to your frame, you can also use the eccentric to slightly alter the bottom bracket height and the effective chain stay length.  This will be a $125 option.

 

 

Head tube reinforcing collars:  Another classic Mountain Goat Feature that puts a little extra material in a high-stress area.  Head Tube:  1 1/8" to fit modern suspension forks.  Geometry is based on an 80mm travel fork.

 

 

Breezer style drop outs: are standard.   A nice strong drop out design from one of founding fathers or mountain biking.

 

 

         

 

 Standard finishes:  Will be Guards Red (RAL #3002) or British Racing Green (RAL#6009) powder coat.  Other colors are available on a special order basis (please provide the RAL #).   We also have the ability to replicate the old school Mountain Goat paint schemes through Russ Pickett who originally painted the frames.  These are individual paint jobs and will be quoted per job but figure between $250 and $850 depending on style.

 

 Decals: F-K-R decals are available in white lettering with a black outline.  Click on the image to the left for a better view.

 

  Geometry

F-K-R frame size is measured from the center of the bottom bracket to the top of the top tube where it intersects the seat tube.  Since the top tubes are sloped, the top tube length is an "effective" length as measured parallel to the ground.  Keep in mind that the stand over clearance will be reduced due to the curved top tube.  For custom geometry, check out the custom sizing page.
